Provides guidance and support to a comprehensive array of programs and projects that support individuals with disabilities.

Provides leadership and financial support to states and local districts to improve results for infants, toddlers, children and  youth with disabilities ages birth through 21.

Sets standards and provides resources to improve early childhood program quality, enhance professional development and working conditions, and help families learn about and understand the need for high quality early childhood education.

Collects and analyzes data related to education in the United States and other nations.

Information on disabilities in infants, toddlers, children and youth, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA '04), No Child Left Behind (NCLB), and research-based information on effective educational practices.

Supports a range of research and development activities designed to improve the education of students at risk of educational failure because of limited English proficiency, poverty, race, geographic location, or economic disadvantage.

Provides coordinated and comprehensive research and development to to improve student achievement in core content areas and work to integrate these areas to enhance student learning.
