Accessible Book Collection

Provide high interest/low reading level digital text to qualified persons with disabilities. Government and non-profit schools and others can subscribe to large selection of e-books for all their eligible students for nominal price.  Cost of an annual site subscription is $49.95. A school district may qualify for a district license pricing.

The Alex Catalogue of Electronic Texts is a collection of public domain documents from American and English literature.
   

Bartleby.com

Internet publisher of literature, reference, and verse providing teachers, therapists, and students with access to books and information on the web, free of charge.

   

Bookshare.com

Bookshare.org is a web-based system supplying accessible books in digital formats designed for people with disabilities. These digital formats are the NISO/DAISY XML-based format for the next generation of talking books, and the BRF format for Braille devices and printers. Access to copyrighted books from Bookshare.org is limited to people in the United States with bona fide print disabilities and the schools and nonprofit organizations serving them. There is a fee for sign-up.

   

Books-On-Line
A directory of books that are posted on the Internet and available for download at no charge (AT THE TIME THEY ARE LISTED).  A FREE (usually daily) newsletter announces new titles, lists some newly available remaindered (i.e. heavily discounted) titles and gives the comments that visitors have made about titles.

   

Children's Literature on the Web
The Children\'s Literature Web Guide iprovides Internet resources related to books for Children and Young Adults provided by others schools, libraries, and subscribers.

Internet Public Library

The Internet Public Library, a project at the University of Michigan School of Information (SI), is an educational initiative designed to provide students and professionals a place to explore and learn. It\'s a public library on line which features a convenient service called Ask a Question. The IPL has an online volunteer staff dedicated to answering reference questions for visitors of the IPL.

Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic

Library contains 104,000 titles in a broad variety of subjects, from literature and history to math and the sciences, at all academic levels, kindergarten through post-graduate and professional. Anyone with a documented disability, including a visual impairment, learning disability or other physical disability is eligible to use RFB&D. Need to become a member. Two types of membership:  individual and institutional. Students may join as individual members or become a member through their school.

Arizona Loan$ for Assistive Technology (AzLAT)
Arizona Loan$ for Assistive Technology (AzLAT) is a consumer driven, statewide alternative financing program offering affordable loans to persons with disabilities for the purchase of assistive technology devices. AzLAT is targeted to persons with low and middle incomes, creating an alternative to traditional lending programs.
 

Arizona Technology Access Project (AzTAP)
Technology-related assistance program.  Mission is to increase access to AT devices and services and to facilitate the development of a consumer-responsive AT service delivery system.  Provide fact sheets and brochures to provide information on products, legal rights, services, and other topics related to AT for individuals with disabilities.
 

Assistive Technology Consideration Resource
From the website: "The following information is provided to assist educational teams in considering assistive technology in the development, review, and/or revision of a students Individual Educational Plan. This document provides a framework for identifying relevant tasks within instructional areas as well as appropriate accommodations, modifications, and technology solutions. Additional tasks and solutions will need to be added to address individual student needs."

ISAAC (International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication
The ISAAC website is dedicated to persons with severe expressive communication difficulties. The International Society of AAC includes information relevant to AAC devices and materials, intervention, the annual ISAAC conference, idea exchanges, online forums and list serves, in addition to additional resources.
